B i o g r a p h y

Florian Cafiero started singing at the age of 13 at the Conservatoire de La Rochelle from which he graduated 3 years later. After scientific studies at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, he started again his vocal studies, at the Sir Georg Solti Accademia, then at the Studio de l’Opéra de Lyon. He worked under the guidance of Jose Cura, and attended master-classes held by Angela Gheorghiu, June Anderson or Ruggero Raimondi.

He was awarded several prizes in competitions such as the Bordeaux Opera competition and the Medoc International Competition. He was nominated “Lyrical revelation of the year” in 2012 by the ADAMI. In 2015, he is the recipient of the "Fondation Jeunes Talents" award.

His operatic roles range from Ferrando in Cosi Fan Tutte (La Monnaie – Brussels) or Pâris in La Belle Hélène (Grand-Théâtre de Genève) to Don Jose in Carmen  (Mariinski Theatre, Primorsky stage),  Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly or Mario in Tosca  (Opéra de Rennes). 

He performed operas staged by directors such as Michael Haneke, Olivier Py, La Fura del Baus, Patrice Caurier & Moshe Leiser, or Yannis Kokkos, and under the baton of conductors such as Paolo Arrivabeni, Lawrence Foster, Christopher Franklin, Riccardo Minasi, Stefano Montanari, Phillipe Nahon or Michael Schonwandt.

He has also been singing in recitals, in venues such as the Chorégies d’Orange, the Opera National de Lyon, the Opera National de Bordeaux, the Opera National de Lorraine, the Pablo Casals festival, the Brussels Summer Festival, with pianists such ad François-René Duchâble, Jeff Cohen, or Jonathan Papp.
